Randy Browning plays and writes a variety of music on guitar, slide guitar and occasionally (depending on local ordinances) old-time banjo. His music blends acoustic and electric styles of folk and blues with eclectic roots and modern songwriting.
You're as likely to hear instrumentals as vocals, with an ever-changing mix of fingerstyle, Piedmont Blues, electric slide, old-timey folk, and new takes on all sorts of classics.
A few originals may also be heard in a typical set. As a songwriter, his unique songs and performance style were honored with the 'New Folk' award at the 34th annual Kerrville Folk Festival.
"Radical Rags", his first solo recording, blends originals and folk songs connected by progressive social change. The title track was selected for a Music2Life compilation CD and concert.
Audiences of all shapes and sizes throughout the Northeast have been welcoming, both for solo sets and with his partner Brett Kinney, in the duo "Late Bloomers".
Randy has been an active and in-demand music educator for over a decade, teaching small classes, workshops, and private lessons. He lives in Southern Maine.
"Refreshing and original, Browning has released one of the finest acoustic offerings of the year."
