Help Wanted: Booking
Organized, professional, and honest person needed to help unique folk musicians with booking. The person we hope to work with is mature, broad-minded, enjoys working with people, and can be simultaneously persistent and respectful.
The situation we're looking for is one of mutual trust, equal benefit, and similar outlook.
What we're about:
We're committed to folk and acoustic music, as musicians and as part of the community. Obviously, this doesn't bode well for financial independence. We believe that good work, a professional attitude, and generally aspiring to excellence can help keep us on the happy side of zero.
What we offer:
- Negotiable terms/percentages
- Flexible time commitment
- Work from anywhere
- Part-time
About the work:
Understanding the needs and concerns of a variety of presenters is essential; previous experience presenting music on a regular basis would be a great help. Comfort using a computer is central to our approach: we research all new venues online before inquiring, communicate with many folks by email, and keep records of who needs what for promotion and return bookings, as well as where, when, and how everyone prefers to be contacted. It's a fair bit of work, but most presenters are working at least as hard (often on a volunteer basis) and it's in everyone's best interest to be respectful of each other's time. The person we hope to work with understands this approach innately.
Our professional goals:
- Continue to satisfy and build a diverse, supportive audience; for our music, and Folk music in general.
- Continue to earn a great reputation among presenters for being entertaining, professional, and easy to work with.
- Cultivate a long-term, adaptive, sutainable career based on artistic merit.
